Alhamdulillah, this month marked the beginning of something special for Rosebuds Dunstable.

Not just a coffee morning. But a space that, quietly, people had been needing.

Our very first session at Dunstable Masjid was filled with a warmth that's hard to put into words. Sisters arriving, some with children by their side, some unsure of what to expect… but all welcomed into a space that felt gentle, open, and sincere.

There's something powerful about gathering for the sake of Allah. Something that softens hearts without needing much else.

Sister Khoyrun opened our first session with a reminder of this — of the virtues of coming together, and the beauty of being present in the masjid with intention and etiquette. It set the tone for what we hope this space will continue to be: grounded, purposeful, and full of barakah.

In the weeks that followed, Sister Ruksana, a Mental Health Safeguarding Practitioner, led sessions exploring mental health through the lens of Islam and wellbeing. These weren't just talks — they were conversations. Moments where sisters could reflect, share, and begin to make sense of things they may have been carrying quietly.

One of the most meaningful parts of these sessions was how naturally they included everyone. Children engaged alongside their mothers, journalling, reflecting, and taking part in simple mindfulness activities. It reminded us that wellbeing isn't separate from our daily lives — it's something we nurture together.

And perhaps that's what stood out the most.

Not just what was taught, but what was created: a space where people felt able to slow down. To connect. To breathe.

Alhamdulillah, these gatherings will now continue weekly, and we pray they grow into a consistent source of support, reflection, and sisterhood for our community.

Because sometimes, something as simple as a coffee morning… becomes so much more.
